The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has been the most popular government organization in the state for over seven decades. The main objective of the organization is to provide affordable housing to the last section of the society.
In order to achieve this, MHADA has provided housing to different sections of the society, ranging from the poor, the needy, the homeless, the disabled, the elderly, and the working class. The organization has a special focus on the housing of women and children, who find it difficult to find a place to live in the city.
The MHADA has a special fund for the promotion of the sale of affordable houses.
